Sacramento's Kindred society was founded by Invictus Prince Tobias Straiphen some fifty years ago.He organized the covenants into a rigid political structure and ruled them with an iron fist for nearly fifteen years.

In 1973 Prince Straiphen was overthrown by the Carthian Movement, Lancea Sanctum, and Ordo Dracul. Unfortunately, the cooperation of the three covenants ended with Straiphen's reign, and Sacramento was split into three separate territories and remained a contested city for the next twenty years.

In September of 1993 a Nosferatu of the Unbound named Freddrick seized the Princedom with the assistance of a small private intelligence network, naming Alder Lord Kisten Maze his Seneschal. Freddrick's reign would last for fifteen years.

In 2008, Kisten Maze was executed for collusion with Brood, and this would be the least of the turmoil to come. Shortly thereafter, an Ancient rose from beneath the city and began stalking and destroying Elders to sustain himself. Prince Freddrick, Harpy Karsh, and Hound Davis were the most prominent --but not only-- victims.

Freddrick's Seneschal, an Ancient named Shadow, ascended to Prince, but soon after abdicated, urging the the Clan and Covenant leaders to raise a new Prince. They would select the Ventrue Priscus, Asa Clarke. Naming the Daeva Rahyna his Seneschal, the city began to move towards putting an end to the diablerizing Elder amongst them.

As they first discovered his identity, then began to plan for ending the threat, the entire Kindred population was afflicted with an illness which killed most and ravaged the survivors. New Kindred have flocked to the city, seeking opportunity in the vacuum. Although the Elder diablerist is presumed dead, it remains to be confirmed. The affliction which would come to be known as the Lost Nights still remain a mystery.
