In 1897, The Pure, charged with power with a quartet of tree and lightning totems, overran the city of Sacramento. Since then, things had been quiet for the Pure, with them doing whatever it is that Pure do.
In June of 2008, 2 cahalith, one in the nuclear test zones of Nevada, the other in Lake Tahoe, both beheld the same dream, of 10 scars striking down upon the city of trees, and cleansing it. These two Cahalith, Flame of Man and Unsung Depths, gathered together their packs, and spoke of the dreams. Councils of war were held, and both packs marched off to fight the unknown number of Pure in the city.
Twenty-four pure tribesmen and women died at the hands of these two packs, for both were full of those from the Lodge of Scars, the fabled lodge where werewolf heroes go to die. And die they did. In the end, only Flame of Man survived; and only for a short time. He burned his packmates and buried his enemies; then sent out a call far and wide for all who would listen to take up the mantle of the city, and cleanse it. While he waited for reinforcements, he fought against foes unknown, for when the first werewolf arrived at Fremont Park, she found Flame of Man gasping and sputtering blood, his body covered in scars and wounds. He spoke to that werewolf and said "Guard! Guard the River! Guard the Shadow! Guard! Guaaar..." That werewolf, Eternal Sentry, now ensures that Turs are kept sacred, and rows her boat every day up and down the rivers, guarding.
The werewolves who have arrived in the city since then found the Pure to have the north, east, and west banks of the two rivers all to themselves. The Forsaken have taken up the city proper as their home, and hold Fremont Park to be sacred ground, as in the middle of that park, under the stone, is the final resting place of Flame of Man.
