Chantay smiled, the one she always used when she needed a client to trust her. It had lost a bit of its effectiveness with the predatory nature of a werewolf, but still. "It would be best if he could tour all the available units actually. His senses are rather acute. I'm sure you've heard about how that happens sometimes with the visually impaired. But getting to the point, apparently apartment complexes are much noisier places then most of us realize. The water pipes, mainly, can make all sorts of weird noises that most of us don't notice. Chris does, so if he could tour all the units to make sure none of them has some faint noise that will drive him crazy..."

Lisa sighed, and rolled her eyes. "But he's not blind. Look, I don't know if you're fishing for some handicapped discount, or what, but just look at the floor plans and save us all a lot of time."

Shadow makes her way to the apartment building on foot, her eyes opened to the spirit world...such as it was these days. She enters the lobby, then waits patiently by the door as she sees the couple speaking with the blond woman. She glances downward at the fox spirit waiting patiently beside her in Twilight. "Take a look around and let me know if you find anything, hmm?"

Senka wanders off sniffing at a few motes, wildly uninterested in a big box full of people.

Fuck. Chris stops smiling. "Got me. I'm not blind." He takes off his glasses and looks at her with his milky eyes. "I do however, look like it. I find it simpler to wear the glasses and use the cane then have people stare at me when they think I don't notice, or make babies cry on the bus." He puts the glasses in his shirt pocket. "And I've looked at the floor plans online. I still want to get a tour before I decide on one." He hears someone else come in and her muttering to herself. Damn crazies, he thinks as he puts his glasses back on.

He also steals a cookie.

"Wow, what is that? I'm going to Bryan, second year," Lisa says, looking reeeeeaaaaaally interested. "Who's your ophthalmologist?"

He takes a bite of the cookie, ignoring the staleness. Somewhere, the Lunes are laughing at me, Starseeker thinks. Laughing hard. "I'd... uh, rather not talk about it unless I got to know you Lisa. It's not something that many people want to... talk about."

Change the subject, changethesubject! Wait is Bryan an eye-doctor school? NO! Don't ask her about school, that's the opposite of changing the subject! Ask about the baby, no! You're here on the down low.

"Like I said, I'd like to take a look at the property available before I decide. which to rent."

Frank had nearly spilled his T.V. dinner when he had heard that pretty little news lady on Channel 6 inform her viewership that a lady had eaten her baby. He might as well have knocked it onto the floor, since he no longer had an appetite. The semi-retired detective had served this city for twenty years, seen terrible things, atrocious things, but never heard of something so downright evil. He felt for the boys that had taken the call.

Normal people don't eat their babies. Hell, crazy people don't eat their babies. Revolted as Frank was, he had to admit to a morbid curiosity. He doubted the station would take the time to thoroughly investigate, since it had the mother in custody already, and, hell. He had all the time in the world.

A cranky old Dodge pulls up in front of Lemon Hill and Stockton, painted in primer gray and rust. Frank takes a few minutes to survey the property. The apartments look like hell, same as everywhere else, but they've gone to the trouble to put up these fancy gates. He briefly wonders why before taking out his cell phone and dialing his protege on the force. Angelo was always busy, just like Frank had been when he was Lead Homicide, but he usually had a few minutes for the incorrigible old coot. Maybe he'd have the name of the neighbor that reported the incident, too.

"Hmmmmm," Lisa hmmmms while tapping one of her slightly overbite-prominent pearly whites with a nail. Click click click.

"Well, I'll probably need you to sign a waiver before we can go walk the complex. Anyone with a medical issue has to," she shrugs and smiles. "Otherwise insurance skyrockets and we can't offer our great rates." A pre-prepped clipboard is offered to Christian, with a standard "I Won't Sue You If I Trip" form on it. Lisa seems content to ignore Chantay, as pretty girls are wont to do when confronted with a prettier girl.

"Miss? I'll be right with you," Lisa smiles at Shadow. "Have you looked at the floor plans?"

It's a few minutes of verbal backslapping and bitching, but Frank gets the information: Nancy Fitzsimmons made the call to Animal Services, apartment 303.

Chantay arched one eyebrow, not even bothering to conceal the surprise that flitted across her face. "You're making him sign a waiver just to walk through the building? That seems highly unusual." After all, she could well imagine the slow lines and pedestrian congestion that would occur if everybody with any sort of medical issue had to sign waivers to enter every building they ever came to. There was a reason that sort of thing wasn't done, possible charges of discrimination among them. Which begged the question, why did they do it here?
