Beers and Brands is a scene featuring the Uratha pack Ascendant Crescent Brotherhood. This scene is a meeting of the pack and new prospective members. Digger called this meeting in order to catch up with his packmates and get branded.[1]
Happenings
- The scene opens with Digger working on the old Knucklehead that has been the bain of his existance recently. Starflower is the first to arrive and he, of course, brings beer. The two Uratha begin talking about pack life and how digger misses having large packs. Digger says, "You know man, I miss the days of a 20 or 30 wolf pack."
- It is then that the pack Alpha Chantay Jones arrives and weighs in with her opinion on large packs, "Imagine the headaches if we had to deal with every wolf with a high opinion of themselves that wandered through Sacramento."
- Digger agrees with her but expresses his opinion on dealing with werewolves who have high opinions, "You gotta a point there Slick, But that's why we had men of mayhem. Wolves to keep the punks in check."
- Once they all have drinks Digger gets down to business saying to Chantay, "Yeah, I need branding. But I only just picked up the rite, and only an asshole would brand himself."
- "Actually, I wish to see if the Ithalunes will grant me worthy of further Wisdom." - Starflower Wilkins
- "And I want to see if they'll recognize me for further Purity." - Chantay Jones
- Chantay agrees saying that if they want to talk about anything else they should do so before the branding, "But if there's anything else either of you want to bring up we should do that first. After the rite is performed, when the spirits teach you the gift, you'll be out of it for a while."
- Digger does have something else to bring up, and he was right, the others didn't like it, "Heart of Darkness. Used to be Heart of Granite. I don't think they got the chops to hang. I think we should annex them. It would be best for both packs."
- Starflower weighs in saying that now is not the best time. Digger agrees but explains his point a bit more, "I wasn't saying now brother. But if those fuckers across the river had a single strategic mind among them they would have walked in here and skull fucked each of us. NO matter how good ah warriors we are. Divided we will fucking fall. Look at the Gardner man. If the ACB wadn't there the SS would have gotten there Asses kicked and vice versa..." Digger says. "I think they are waiten for us to finish this bitch off, and then they will come waltzing in here and kill us all..."
- Chantay's logical mind kicks in and she makes a valid point, "If we do try to annex them, and I'm not saying it's a bad idea, we'll only do it if they'll accept it voluntarily. Because if they resist, or if they'd resent us for it...we can't afford to have that kind of dissension within a pack or within the city."
- Digger conceeds her point, saying, "And thats why your Alpha Slick. Cause your fucking smart as a whip. And ya listen."
- After the conversation is done Digger proceeds to brand both Chantay and Starflower. Digger calls to both the Lunes of Purity and Wisdom. For Chantay, Digger lights a ring of fire around Chantay and calls out to the Lunes,[2]
- "With this Fire I call out to the Lune's. With the ultimate purifier I call out to the Lunes to come down here and recognize the Purity that Slick shows. Slick looked into the Eye's of a Idgam and remained steadfast in her faith. She remained honest, loyal and truthful to her pack." As he speaks out to the Lune he draws along her flesh with a clawed finger. A line of Silver appears on her flesh as he draws a brand to represent the most pure of the Uratha. "There is none more Pure then our Alpha, come down here and see us if you don't believe us."
- "Ithalunes, I invoke you to come and measure my little brother. Find him worthy of the Wisdom he has shown in the face of violence. The Wisdom he has shown in hunting for how to fix the Idigam issue. He seaches for knowledge, hunts for it, digs for it. Find him worthy Lunes. Because I know he is."
- "Lunar Choirs, Cahalunim, hear me tonight! For a son of the gibbous moon stands before you now. One who has delved deep into the murky, corrupted waters of the Sacramento River. One whose worries of Cthulionic entities were not far off the mark as we found ourselves facing a moon-banished, an Idigam whom not even our mighty forefather could banish forever. A foe that no Uratha could hope to face in a straight-up fight. Yet this son before you never quailed, the thought of fleeing never crossed his mind. Instead he made his stand, he struck at a being we can hardly comprehend with blasts of fire and lead. And it was glorious."
- Shortly before the end of Digger's trance Tim Wakefield shows up, with beer, and meets the pack. Shortly there after Nathanial Black also arrives, bringing more beer. Digger wakes up from his trance, saying, "Beer?" The group discuss the layout of the city and how the Anshega are basically surrounding the Forsaken territories, Chantey explains, "The other side of the river's crawling with Anshega, but they've been quiet lately."
- Tim takes off and the pack decides they are going to go for a hunt. Chantay sets a date and time and the group rolls out.
