Ben has known of the Spirits all his life. He might go so far as to say that they were a sort of foster parent to his actual Flesh and blood mother who became was a single teen mother who spent more time working to get food on the table. The Spirits came to him as an infant and would sing to him in his sleep. In his early childhood they became friends who would keep him company and quell his anger problems while the babysitter was making out with her boyfriend on the couch. No one would think otherwise what kid didn’t have a imaginary friend. However as he got older his family grew concerned about his imaginary friends and Ben’s anger issues they sent him to a child psychologist who told him that his friends weren’t real and he should make real friends. It was also with the Psychologist that he learned how to meditate which he found very easy to do. However Ben knew that his friends would have to be secret. As Ben learned more about things like Science and psychology he began to worry about himself could he have schizophrenia could he have been Crazy? He began to meditate more and when this didn’t work, he tried to find a way to block out the beings. This is where he learned about Stoicism and a Taoism which for him finally put an end to most of his anger issues. He became much more balanced in his life. Though the beings still did not go away Ben felt that these beings whether they were hallucinations or something else, they meant no harm to him and were not trying to urge him to do anything. Though he still kept these beings (which he had finally resolved to just call spirits) secret, he began to listen to them again and speak with them while he was alone. He would listen to their council and he would listen and take heed.However Ben’s curiosity of them never ended and he hoped that one day he would know what they were. Ben resolved to seek higher education and higher wisdom. Ben graduated high school as valedictorian even made it to Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. He went to college, and then medical school and got his doctorate in Psychology at University of California in Berkeley. Perhaps it would be in the realm of science he would find a reason for these Spirits that followed him all his life. When he graduated he went into Private practice.
