Wavy chin-length blonde hair shapes Chase's narrow features. His blue eyes a deep cool gaze. He's attractive, yes, and calm. His mannerisms distinct and precise. His voice is a mellow tenor that is smooth and even. He prefers to wear sunglasses despite him never having to need them though not when speaking to others. His build is thin and lean and he often wears sport coats over dark colored shirts and ties.
New Developments
Once newly acknowledged in the eyes of Sacramento's kindred society, Chase located a place of temporary residence at Westwood Vistas on the west-side of the Sacramento river. In order to support himself he began working the night shift as a computer technician for Datasynth Inc. Yet this wasn't enough for the aristocrat, so used to living in luxury. Ambitious for power, Chase pursued methods of acquiring more funds to enact his goals.
Always in the pursuit of his family's fortune, Chase discovered his sister to be a rival for their inheritance to take on the company as an executive. Considering his options, Chase makes an attempt to uncover something to blackmail his father into giving him more stake in the company. Sneaking into his prize business Augury Data Systems, Chase writes some code into the program and makes off with a copy of the source code. Yet the next night he finds the code missing and a message left by his father who had apparently been tailing him.
Finally confronting his father face to face, Marcel Ankers gives Chase an ultimatum. He must demonstrate his abilities to govern a successful corporation or else forfeit his rights as heir. Chase, eager for the challenge and opportunity, accepted the proposition. At the February Court of 2012 Chase competed in a talent contest to acquire the privilege but failed to capture the audience's interest. Instead he requested a meeting with his Priscus, the Seneschal to discuss his hope to start a Telecommunications Company. Seeing the use for such a resource as a security measure for internet Masquerade breaches, his request was approved and he received Tenancy Rights for the Communal Grounds.
He was interviewed for a position as a bodyguard by the newly appointed Harpy Brown, though he turned it down because he lacked confidence in his fighting prowess. Still, the meeting inspired him to develop his self-defense skills further as a Fencer, which is still ongoing.
Recently, Chase was invited by Deputy Burns to assist in an investigation of a serial murderer plaguing Sacramento. Hoping to impress his fellow kindred with his information gathering skills he is in attendance at the Sacramento Train Station.
History
Chase was born in Sacramento, California the son of wealthy aristocrats with close ties to the Hollywood media and computer industries of Silicon Valley. His parents being so busy he was raised by well-referenced assistants and caretakers who let him do whatever he liked. It wasn't until Chase graduated from his private school that he was torn away to study at Harvard University. There he dedicated himself to study, excelling in all his courses, being trained for either a media executive or chief information officer. He never made it to the executive training following graduation, however, since he was abducted and his life changed forever.
Chase began his unlife sired by the vampiress, Georgette, who in turn was sired by Scarlet, a notable Kindred of the Ventrue Clan and known for her eccentricities. She was an English-woman before her embrace. She lived in the English courts during the 15th century and may have had some influence during the War of the Roses. It is theorized she came from the House of Lancaster in reference to her namesake. Georgette, however, was a prominant academic who lived during the 19th century and who had an affinity for books and occult studies. She and Scarlet had began their own coterie following The Ordo Dracul long before Chase's embrace. This now included Chase who served out his rank of Slave for a year. He hadn't been sure why he was chosen for the Embrace or why he accepted it so readily. The transition was in stark contrast to what he knew to be true and rational. Yet his scholarly mind took hold of the rules of the Danse Macabre and the hierarchy it followed. After this year, however, he was asked to leave to return to Sacramento. When he questioned why this was he was told by Georgette that with the sudden decline of kindred population there that there would be a chance to strengthen the Ordo Dracul in that area and gain some influence. He would represent them and report back at intervals. He accepted this thankfully and was pleased to return to the place of his childhood.
Excerpt
"Remembering my mortal childhood I recall I was nearly always present outdoors, on the beach in particular. My family enjoyed a coastal beach house in a prime location. I took an affinity to surfing and later a talent, I suspect. Gliding across the waves in the sparkling sunlight was a delight, empowering for a young lad such as myself." "It wasn't until I had left for college that realized how fleeting it was. It seemed as though the years had passed in an instant. My studies took precident, naturally. It was a gradual adjustment at first. A rather rocky one later on, I'll admit. And then my demeanor began to adapt to this new lifestyle. I was far too busy catching up in my world-knowledge to notice how cold and calculating I was becoming." "The world began to break down in my mind, a clutter of images and objects to be analyzed. Oh I had a real knack for it. All those years on the surf hadn't held me back at all. It fit perfectly into my mind's eye, so much so that there was no place for a childhood in it." "And then on my graduating day, wielding Masters inInformation System Management & Visual Media I wondered to myself how I had gotten through it all. How had I achieved so much and what force was driving me onward? It wasn't out of some duty to my family, whom I despised, or some passion for success. I believe it was because of those childhood years, that deep down I had those wonderful memories to hold onto, that I had already truly lived the experience we all were secretly striving for. That empowerment and tranquility, basking in nature's glory. Feeling both vulnerable and exhilarated in a single moment of peaceful splendor." "To compare the two persons, my college-bound persona and my childhood persona, is as I compare myself now to my whole mortal experience. Like fleeting memories basking in the sun of which I am now apart from. And yet I wonder now what presses me onward through these murky nights of monsters and mischief. What indeed?"
