Captain held a funeral for the three mages that had died in Granite Park on 01 June 2009. At the end of the ceremony, a sniper opened fire, killing Captain, one of his Sleepwalkers, and the mentor of one of the deceased.
Summary
Those arriving saw three coffins, one containing Ghoster's body, the other two empty to represent Logos and Guy Park. Finn, Ghoster's mentor, immediately confronted Ollie over what had happened. Accepting Ollie's answer, he moved on to talk with Captain about the ceremony.
Shortly after, Captain began the ceremony with a short speech. He then left an opening so that anyone else who wanted to speak could. Finn took the opportunity, as did Valkyrie and Ollie, who had been investigating Granite Park with the deceased. Then Captain shovelled dirt into each grave and gave any others who wished to participate the chance to do so.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Captain returned to his car and began to drive away. He didn't get far before a sniper round found its mark. Chaos ensued, with some racing to the car, others trying to locate the sniper, and still others diving for cover. It became readily apparent that Captain and his sleepwalker had been killed instantly. But the danger had not yet passed. A third round found its mark, instantly killing Finn.
The mages scrambling to deal with the threat soon found that Paradox was hitting unusually hard and that some normally Covert spells were drawing Paradox. By the time anyone managed to reach the roof where the sniper had hid, he was gone, eventually reclaiming his rifle through the Arcanum of Space.
Vector is believed to be behind the shootings, as other mages who have encountered him have reported similar paradox effects.
