Matthew lebnitz entered the military academy at age 17, following on the footsteps of his father, and his grandfather before him. Born in a military family, his pride was evident in the youthful ages, the military brought him a sharp sense of loyalty, and justice. His height, and his overall more than average stamina, made him stand out of the crowd.Following the basic training, he moved on to the officer's course, earning himself a stable, if yet low, for his tastes, income. From there he applied himself to become a military investigator. Charged with the finding of disciplinary problems and corruption. Or in the event of desertions. Working in strict contact with the police of the areas where the soldiers had disappeared, some run away scared for war, others were simply found drunk in a bar, he made himself quite a few friends. Weapon speaking, while allowed carriage of military equipment, due to him being still an active military, he was always better in fist-fights, maybe for the his size. He had chosen this course to become then a higher ranking officer, all to make points and look good to the higher up. He was assigned overseas to look after a case of desertion, in the middle east, when something popped up. A group disappeared, leaving their stuff behind, at first sight it seemed normal, but forensics revealed the group had recently discharged weapons. So Matthew was called to investigate. He didn't find the missing soldiers. He did however manage to get lost in the middle of the desert, after barely escaping an ambush led by enemy forces. There, close to starvation, the change happened, under the crescent moon. Werewolves of the middle east took his scent for the first time, and found him on the verge of getting taken over by spirits. He spent time with them, learning and coming to understanding his changed nature. When it was time to bid farewell, he had come to term with what he was: born anew under the auspice of the Ithaeur, a hunter in the darkness. Kind of made sense. When he came back to base, he was obviously questioned. He said what he knew would be believed: escaped an ambush, crawled all the way till there, and met a group of beduins who had helped him back on his feets. He spent a couple more years working normally, travelling a bit here and a bit there for the military. Then, all the hard work payed back: he was given a desk job. He was given an easier job somewhere else: the town of Sacramento. More stable, with a small office, and a direct line with the police for disappearances involving military personnel or cases of corruption. An external eye. He would start service soon. Well, he was sure he wasn't going to get bored any time soon though. He had heard of a werewolf community in sacramento. And was eager to meet with them.
