Appearance

Ricardo looks like a Mexican 'Macho Man.' He usually has a stern expression and looks like someone who has worked hard all his life. Most days, he keeps his many tattoos hidden under a good amount of clothing. Despite other appearances, Ricardo has a surprisingly warm smile that tends to put people at ease.

History

Ricardo Rodriguez Reyes was a regular guy in the industrial machine of Mexicali, Mexico. He was always saving up to have a better life, but he never did seem to make enough money. Like a many others, he spent a lot of time drinking and fighting. His physical prowess, combined with his smooth tongue eventually got him a break. He was promoted to the leader of a small work group, and given slightly more pay. Things were finally starting to look up for him.

Then one night, his life was turned upside down. On his way home from work, Ricardo saw a man dressed as a priest taking a little girl into a back ally. More than usual, something seemed fundamentally wrong with the priest. Without thinking, he jumped the priest. The girl was able to get away. The priest fought back with a strength and ferocity Ricardo had never seen. Even more surprising, he bit Ricardo!

When Ricardo woke up, the priest apologized to him and introduced himself as Father Ortega. Father Ortega told Ricardo that he was a vampire and he didn't want to hurt the little girl, he only wanted a snack. Ricardo told him that was disgusting. Father Ortega laughed at his response. He told Ricardo that it was too late, he had been forced to Embrace him instead or let him die of blood loss. He welcomed his new Childe to the Requiem.

The Requiem was not kind to Ricardo. His blood was more potent than most fledgelings, but that only lead to him experiencing the increased savagely of his Beast early. On top of that, Father Ortega made Ricardo participate in the deranged sacrifices of their Bloodline. This was a constant weight on Riccardo's mind and what passes for a soul with the Kindred. Perhaps worst of all, Father Ortega made sure that Ricardo checked up on the girl he saved. Each time, something worse had happened to her. (Unbeknown to him, Father Ortega was using Dominate to make sure her life turned out badly.)

Eventually, Father Ortega believed he had broken Ricardo and declared him free. He told him that he could chose to stay with his new family or leave. To his surprise, Ricardo gathered all his money, a few changes of changes of clothes, and a set of dragon knuckles. He then got in a box and had himself mailed to the United States. The box arrived in Sacramento. After arriving, he checked into the cheapest and seediest motel and began looking for more of his kind...
