Appearance

Swift is a somewhat athletic looking man in is early 30s (or at least appearing so). His fair skin combined with dark, almost black, hair and his deep blue eyes give him a very dark-German appearance. He typically wears a long black duster and a 1940's style fedora. He carries a cane with a stylized wolf's head grip. He carries a small satchel with him most of the time, from which he often produces a small notebook and pen to record his experiences.

History

Early Years

Dr. Robert Swift's archeological studies put him in contact with occult teachings and beliefs long before he himself started to believe in such things. He became interested in anthropology in college and eventually earned his Ph.D. in archeology in 2005 from Stanford.

In 2006 he joined a team sent to the Brazilian Amazon near the border of French Guiana. There was a new and exciting archeological site at Calçoene that was colloquially known as the Amazonian Stonehenge. The now Dr. Robert Swift joined the team as part of a post-doctoral fellowship. The project only lasted a few months, however, before it was suddenly and inexplicably shut down by the Brazilian government.

The night the project was shut down Dr. Swift was visited by a man calling himself Dr. Hopson. Hopson indicated that the sudden shutdown of the project was indicative of a deeper coverup. He offered Swift the opportunity to learn more and assist him in uncovering the truth. Swift took him up on the opportunity and became Hopson's ghoul.

Hopson insisted that Swift finish his fellowship, even though the project had been broken up and it meant spending hours in a relatively boring pottery cataloging project. Hopson also supplemented Swift's education with languages and additional studies in the occult. He insisted Swift learn as much as possible before offering him the embrace, knowing the Gangrel clan curse would impede further learning.

In 2009 Dr. Hopson's and Dr. Swift's research led Hopson to believe any further progress would require he travel to very remote regions of the world. He gave Dr. Swift the embrace and spent nearly a year supplementing his academic knowledge of the Vampiric existence with practical experience.

In 2010 Dr. Hopson set out on his journey, charging Swift to continue his studies and develop his abilities. Hopson gave Swift access to a monthly allowance provided for all members of this Gangrel bloodline of scholars (not an official bloodline so much as a family line). Hopson also made a gift to Swift in the form of a sword cane with a stylized silver wolf's head pommel.

Since then Dr. Swift has spent the past year wandering the pacific coast of the US looking for a place where he could begin to pursue his own private studies. These wanderings have now brought him to Sacramento.
