Appearance

Stefan stands at 6'4, with black hair, dark brown eyes and an engaging smile. He's got an intense air about him that some people find attractive, and usually dresses casually in jeans and t-shirts. He's got a few scrapes, but no really distinguishing marks. Physically, he takes care of himself, and has a reasonably fit build. Despite this, there's something a little too hungry, a little too sharp about him for most people.

His wolf form is a big, aggressive-looking, black European wolf.

History

Stefan Anderson was born in Chicago to a single mother, Sonya, who worked two jobs to make ends meet. His father was completely out of the picture- Sonya would later tell him that he had been a one-night stand, nothing special. She'd just felt drawn to him, and hey, if the guy never showed up again, it wasn't too big of a deal. Despite the relative poverty of his upbringing, Stefan was dearly loved, and Sonya did the damnedest to make sure her boy had all that a child needed to flourish. As a result, Stefan grew up silver-tongued and charming, with a pleasant, modest outlook on life. He went to college and majored in theatre, but after graduating, decided not to pursue it as a career, being somewhat too pragmatic to gamble the future on good looks.

He waited tables instead, not looking for a break, or fame like some people might have expected. Instead, he just settled down, figuring that with hard work and elbow grease, he'd pay off his student loans and maybe go back to college, where he thought maybe he would do a serious degree and get a proper career. His mother was thoroughly supportive, proud of her son for growing up to be a good-hearted, cheerful young man who wasn't whittling away his potential on what she saw as a pipe-dream.

Stefan had a few casual relationships and started seriously dating a girl at the restaurant he worked at, one of the chefs in the kitchen. Although they had their ups and downs, they settled together quite well, and the girl, Beverly, moved in with him. They even started to discuss marriage.

That winter, the world fell down around Stefan's ears.

Daddy came back.

Stefan had been working a double shift at the restaurant, on Beverly's day off. She was having a day with his mother, getting to know Sonya a little better. As he was walking towards the garden of their small, rented house, he noticed the latch was off the gate.

It seemed like a tiny thing, but it somehow stood out like a sore thumb. He felt a strange sense of dread and headed inside. The hall had been shredded. Long gouges were missing from the brickwork, and he could smell blood. He ran inside, fear for his family overwhelming the screaming need to run for his life.

Sonya was already dead by the time Stefan reached her in the living room. There was a man there, calm, casual, watching Beverly choke on her own blood. Her throat was crushed, punctured by some terrible, violent thing. Stefan froze, and the man stood up, turning around and smiling at him. He grabbed Stefan, digging fingers that felt like claws into his arms. The younger man noticed two things. This man looked a Hell of a lot like him, and he reeked of sweat and blood.

"I've been waiting to meet you for a very long time, Stefan. I think you're ready." The words echoed through Stefan's skull, and he flew into a rage. He grabbed the nearest object and flung it as hard as he could at the man's head, before turning to his heels and running for his life. Outside, he heard wolves howling as he fled down the streets of Chicago, not really knowing where he was going, just trying desperately to outrun them.

Luck must have been on his side. Somehow, he made it. Somehow, they left him alone. Maybe he'd just lost them, although he had no idea how they couldn't track him by smell. He got into his car and drove as quickly and efficiently as he could. He ran across the country, all the way to Sacramento, praying they'd never find him.

He had a feeling that whatever it was they'd wanted him for, it was much, much worse than the horror of his family's deaths.

He scratches out a living now, working as a lounge singer and waiter where he can, hoping like Hell the police don't think he murdered his mother and his fiancee. Still, he figures maybe they'd have caught up with him by now. Or maybe, again, he's just been weirdly lucky.

Since coming to Sacramento Stefan has been accepted as a Chorus member of the Shadow Seekers.
