		+	A history of Life, Damnation, and Death

		+	Born in 1940, Anthony was the product of a Pre-War boom. The United States was on the rise from it's 30's slump, and the world was going to War. His father enlisted with the Navy when the War was brought to the US at Pearl Harbor, but after that day, they never heard from him again – and the checks from the Service stopped coming. In a home occupied by only himself and his Mother in Middle America, he grew up in relative poverty. Though he never missed a meal, his mother was forced to work multiple jobs to support them both. His school years were uneventful, but he was always motivated by his mother to become something – anything – and do big things, and make her proud. He was 15 when the war in Vietnam began. When he graduated high school near the top of his class, he was accepted into the State school on academic scholarship, he was bright and driven, and had notions of becoming a Doctor. He was thankful that it conveniently removed him from the Draft. At 27, he graduated from Medical School, and began his residency in Anesthesiology. The Vietnam war was still in full swing, and Anthony was no longer protected by from the draft. Not a year into his Residency, Anthony was drafted as an Army Doctor, and shipped to Vietnam with only remedial military training. He would spend the rest of the war in a Vietnam hospital, participating in treatment of soldiers flown out of combat.

		+	Dr Michaels was not unfamiliar with Opium or any of its derivatives, Morphine and Heroin, having used both for his practice in the Operating Room, and for severe pain management for patients, but he was astounded by the rampant usage of the drug for recreation in the wilds of Vietnam of combatant and civilian alike. It was everywhere, and word was that it was making its way back to the States, and the people who were peddling it were making like kings on their Hash. There was also word that the authorities back home were keeping a close eye on such trafficking, which made narcotics transporting across countries far more difficult. He wanted to do well for himself, and having seen the euphoric effects that the narcotics had on his patients, he felt that it might be a worthwhile way to share the feeling.

		+	When he finally returned to the States, he moved to Washington state to open a Pain Clinic, offering patients the hope of relief of chronic pain syndromes, withdrawal, and any array of maladies. As time went on, the works of Dr Jack Kavorkian became more publicized and Hospice (end of life) care became more prevalent, and Anthony's specialty and focus changed with it. It would have been history from there, had there not been a call from the DEA. Seems someone had been forging prescriptions for medications under his name, and was over filling them, and selling them on the street. He approached the culprit – a degenerate by the name of “Sammy Smack” - and was made an offer he couldn't refuse – continue to supply, or die. Now, an offer such as this would best be brought to Police attention – but he was compelled otherwise. Against better judgment, he complied with the demand, and began feeding into the criminal's needs – in more ways than one. He began losing nights at a time in which he couldn't remember, feeling weak, tired and overall drained. He felt beholden to the slob who was using him, forcing him to disobey better judgment. When he finally managed the gall to stand up to Sam, he was quickly shot down. Literally. Jabbed in the leg by the slimy crook, Anthony felt the grip of Somulus and the powerful hold of Opium course through his veins.

		+	It was murder most foul. Or, would have been, had Anthony died. When he woke, he was in the den of the monster that killed him. Surrounded by half coherent druggies, he stumbled around. The pulse he checked for, was nonexistent and those around him were in a perpetual haze. He was filled with a drive and a rage that had never been a part of his life – a hunger that could never be sated. When he finally made his way to Sam, the peddler could only laugh. He was enjoying the sick joke he had played upon his unwitting patsy. Sam's plan, it seems, was to turn Anthony into his obedient childer, and have their business arrangement be all the more lucrative for Sam, expanding his enterprise. The Beast had other plans in mind. The fledgling Vampire that Anthony had become was speechless. All reason drained at the sight of the man who had made him a monster as well enjoying the moment. He sprung at Sam, and began clawing and tearing at the unarmed man with fury never before felt – an echo of what it might have been in life, stronger than anything he had experienced.

		+	It felt like hours before the violent mauling was interrupted by the Local Hound. It seems not just the DEA was aware of Sam's not so shady dealings, and the attention that it was garnishing. The Domain Prince had taken notice, and after a previous warning, had sent the Hound to dispatch the Dealer for his transgressions. Anthony had saved him the time. It didn't go unappreciated, as he wasn't staked on the spot. Sam was forcefully torpored by the Hound, and Anthony was brought to the Prince – the evidence of Sammy Smack's uncontrollable desire for wealth and sustenance. The proverbial nail in his coffin.

		+	With a decree that bewildered Michaels, the Prince granted him Sam's haven and herd – demanding that the vassels be kept and tended for, as it was part of a larger community's flock. It was conditional. Anthony was to be exiled from the Domain once a suitable replacement was found, and Anthony was not a threat to the Masquerade, the Domain, or himself. This was the late 70's, into the early 80s.

		+	As Anthony began to strike out on his own, traveling away from the domain of his “birth”, he found that even regular feedings were unsatisfying. He hungered, even after a meal, but it took him years to find what would sate him. Poppies. Opium. Morpheus. Damned as he was, the tragic irony of his unlife doomed him to feed upon those who consumed that which he related to his transformation. Years of trial and error were put into practice, finding vassels fit for feeding. He found that prescription pain medications worked as well as street drugs. Were the vassels otherwise healthy, or terminally ill, so long as they were afflicted with some narcotic, they eased his hunger.

		+	At the dawn of the new century, Doctor Anthony Michaels turned his focus almost exclusively to hospice care. In it, he found a level of comfort in providing for those soon to die, a task he was unable to achieve in his own right. But they offered him something more. To him, they were much more than patients, they were his life. As they withered away – high on the pain medications he prescribed – they fed his eternal unlife. As long as there was the doom of death to come, He would always be sated.
